‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – The High School Reunion, Part 2: The Gang’s Revenge’ (Season Finale) Review

After last week’s slightly disappointing episode of build up, I was excited to see the finale which by the title sounded awesome. But did it deliver? Depends on what you remember. If you remember this episode by its incredible ending then yes it did. But if you remember it by the boring first two thirds of the episode then no it didn’t.

The first half of the episode was incredibly boring. This is because the build up for the events to come had already happened last week. Frankly this story should not have been two episodes. If you take all the good build up from last week and the ending of tonight’s episode and put them together you get one hell of a great episode. But that isn’t what we got. For the most of the twenty-two minutes this episode was a complete dud. Besides the scene of Dee getting a wedgie, that was pretty hysterical.

However, all that build up paid off in the final minutes of the episode. The gang decides to solve their problems with Plan B. What is Plan B you ask? It’s a dance routine. The execution of the whole thing was hilarious. Charlie’s speech to the rest of the crowd was great. The twist, which is too perfect to reveal here, was possibly the funniest thing I have seen all season, and that is saying something.

Overall, this episode ended up making up for its problems with a moment that cannot be topped. That moment is what I will remember when I look back on the season seven finale. This is a case of the good outweighing the bad and while this episode was very poorly constructed, the ending was a great way to leave these beloved characters until season eight. (7.5/10)
