New ‘Dark Knight Rises’ Plot Details and Photos!

Empire magazine and had a nice surprise for Bat-fans this morning. Empire‘s cover story on The Dark Knight Rises has hit the interwebs and details on the plot are here.

Nolan has revealed the shocking fact that the new film will take place eight years after The Dark Knight. This raises so many questions. Are the police still after Batman? Are Harvey Dent’s crimes still a secret? I am fascinated to find out what has happened in those eight years. Nolan went on to say that Bruce is not in a good state and that we will be seeing an older version of the character. Some parts of this scream The Dark Knight Returns to me, which I would love to see Nolan tackle. Nolan definitely looks to be ending his story with this one as we are no longer in the early days of Batman.

We also got a lot of details on Bane. Tom Hardy told Empire that the character is “brutal” and that his style of fighting is all about carnage. That means a lot of broken necks and ripped out spinal columns according to the actor. He also described Bane as a terrorist mentally and physically.

The costume designer, Linda Hemming, elaborated on the villain’s mask. “He was injured early in his story. He’s suffering from pain and needs gas to survive. He can’t survive the pain without the mask. The pipes from the mask go back along his jawline and feed into the thing at his back, where there are two cannisters.” That doesn’t sound like Venom but it still sounds awesome.

These new details are certainly enticing. Nolan says the prologue premiering with Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol next month will show the first six or seven minutes of the film. Until then I suppose this will have to do Bat-fans. Check out the photos below.
