‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars – Prisoners’ Review

The three part underwater story came to an end this week in a very up and down episode that in the end had a nice payoff. This show can still pack a punch and tell an exciting story in the Star Wars universe. The animation here was probably tricky to pull off. Creating an underwater location for characters to move around in presents an entirely different challenge than a battle on the ground. Yet, they overcome the challenge with fluid movements and gorgeous colors.

The episode started where the last left off with everyone besides Asohka and the prince captured. This was a slow way to start things off and very few exciting things took place. However, every time Asohka lights both of her lightsabers I get chills. The creators aren’t toying around with her anymore. She has proven herself as a powerful adversary to the Jedi and to us viewers.

After the boring stuff was over we got a pretty neat battle to finish off this three part story. The prince did get annoying after a while simply because of how puny he is. That being said, his final battle with the evil shark leader was pretty awesome. I enjoyed the homage to Jaws as the way it ended was pretty much a shot-for-shot recreation of the climax of that movie. It was brilliant and had me cheering at the TV.

This three part story was a fun battle but I think it could have been much better. I would have liked to see much more from Kit Fisto. But all in all it was a decent way to start off the season. I am hoping to see a few more red lightsabers in the next few episodes. Oh, and Obi-Wan. (7.5/10)
