George Lucas Changes Significant Scene for ‘Return of the Jedi’ Blu Ray Release

George Lucas how could you? You give us fanboys something to look forward to, the Star Wars blu ray release. Every fan was excited until we heard about this: you’re tweaking the climactic scene at the end of the whole damn saga. On the blu ray when Darth Vader saves Luke from the Emperor’s force lightning he will yell “Nooo!”. Really?! Doesn’t that seem a little cliche? Or maybe a lot. For long time Star Wars fans it nearly ruins the scene. Take a look at it below.

Why does Lucas insist on fixing what isn’t broken. I welcome any changes to the prequel trilogy because they aren’t perfect. Hell, even change a few scenes with the Ewoks! But the climactic end of the whole saga was brilliant, and now with one word it has been tainted. It doesn’t ruin the movie. It doesn’t even ruin the moment, but the change was far from necessary and will be something that fans roll their eyes at every time they see it. Someone put Lucas in a retirement home and let whoever is in charge of Star Wars: The Clone Wars go back and change everything back to the way it was.

Are you as upset about this change as I am? Does this change your mind on whether you’re going to pick up the blu ray collection? Are you worried about what other changes might be made? Maybe Jar Jar Binks will make his debut in the original trilogy! How exciting!

  1. George Lucas, these are your films and you have the right to do whatever you want with them. BUT THAT DOESN’T MEAN YOU SHOULD.
