‘Paranormal Activity 3’ Has a Clever Trailer

I am one of those people who has a very fond (or terrifying) memory of going to see the first Paranormal Activity two years ago. I found the film fresh and terrifying. Last year, Paranormal Activity 2 exceeded most people’s expectations by being the rare horror sequel that is both actually good and builds on the original. Was it better than the original? No, but you could do much worse in the horror genre. Today the trailer for Paranormal Activity 3 was released and it looks to once again build upon the previous two while being scary.

The trailer starts with a date of 1988 in the corner of the home movie footage that has become custom to the series. It follows two familiar little girls; these are the main characters, and sisters, of the previous two films. The last two movies have given us clues about what happened when they were children but it seems we are finally going to get the full story. The next part of the trailer reminds of of those clues.

Finally we get to some scary new footage. We see the sisters doing the classic “say Bloody Mary” three times in front of a mirror (I could never do this alone when I was a kid). We wait for something to happen then one sister screams just to scare the other. It appears that nothing scary was happening at all until we see the shadowy figure in the mirror as they leave the bathroom. Oh boy.

This definitely looks like something for fans of the series and horror fans in general to be excited about. Paranormal Activity 3 hits theaters October 21st. Rest easy until then.
