Official ‘Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ Trailer Has David Fincher’s Signature
David Fincher has a had a great directing career. Starting with the vastly underrated Alien 3, up to last year’s Oscar winner The Social Network (with such hits as Se7en, Fight Club, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in between), Fincher has proven to be a hit with audiences and one of the most influential directors of the last two decades. Now, take his unique style of filmmaking and apply it to one of the most talked about novels of the last few years. The first trailer for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo hit the internet this morning, and I can’t stop watching it.
The trailer has no dialogue, and simply shows quickly paced cuts between various scenes of doom and gloom, and its effective. It is a short trailer at under two minutes but it certainly is something to be excited for come December. Daniel Craig stars in the film, along with newcomer Rooney Mara as the title character.
Based on the clip, this is very clearly a David Fincher movie. It resembles some of his earlier work, such as Fight Club and Se7en, and less of his recent traditional Oscar bait (Benjamin Button and The Social Network). This is definitely a movie to keep an eye on for the fall. I guess I will be busy reading this series instead of rereading Harry Potter again.
